Plans & Programs

Pursuant to its legislative mandate, the Division of Risk Management (DRM) administers various risk management plans and programs that cover state government, public entities, specified not-for-profit organizations, and certain individuals serving in the public interest. The coverage provided by these plans and programs is determined by the relevant statutes and by the plans themselves. Depending on the entity or individual, coverage may be available for tort liability, public officials liability, law enforcement liability, professional liability (including medical and legal malpractice), automobile liability, automobile physical damage, property, boiler and machinery, watercraft, aviation, and employee malfeasance (surety bonding). Coverage may be provided by means of purchased insurance, self-insurance or a combination of self-insurance and purchased insurance.

The following table provides an overview of coverage available through DRM. More detailed information is available by clicking on the entity or individual below or calling DRM at 804-786-3152.
